For those who may not be familiar, Small was an integral part of Joel's team, serving as a drummer and musical director for many years. His relationship with Joel extended far beyond a professional capacity, with Joel referring to him as his "best friend" and "like a brother to me." This sentiment speaks volumes about the impact Small had on Joel's life and career.
The significance of Small's passing lies in the profound effect he had on Joel's music and personal life.
